I am trying to trace James Alexander Muir who married Emma Maria Ann Faulknor in New Zealand.

I believe that James was born in 1864 in the Isle of Bute and died around 1912.

Any clues would be greatfully received.

Found the link!!

I have traced James Alexander Muir of Isle of Bute.
He was born in New Zealand in 1864. I am trying to find our where from the BDM office.
His mother was Jane Muir born in Renfrew, Renfrewshire Scotland in 1838.

It appears that Muir was her maiden name.

He had a younger brother William born in 1866, also in New Zealand.

By 1871, they were living in Kilfinan, Argyll, Scotland
In 1881, They were living in Rothsay, Bute, Scotland. James was a legal clerk at 17.
